About Me
Hi, I’m Ashlan Morelock. I was born and raised right here in Cleveland, and this community has always been home. My husband, Davis, and I have been married for 17 years, and we’re raising two kids who are active in our local schools. Like so many families in Bradley County, we care deeply about safe schools, strong academics, and making sure our students are prepared for what comes next.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve our community in a lot of different ways, through volunteer work, fundraising efforts, school involvement, and serving on local boards. That work has taught me how to listen, how to bring people together, and how to stay focused on results. I’ve also worked in community-focused roles where the job is building relationships, earning trust, and helping good organizations do more good.
I’m running for the Bradley County School Board District 4 seat because I believe we can keep building on what’s working while being honest about what needs to improve. I want to support our teachers, be a strong voice for parents, and help our school system plan wisely for growth, with transparency, fiscal responsibility, accountability, and a steady, common-sense approach.
The Issues
These are the priorities I’m running on and the values I’ll bring to the school board. My focus is practical and straightforward: listening to families and teachers, protecting what’s working, and tackling what needs improvement with clear goals and measurable results. I believe our schools do best when decisions are transparent, communication is consistent, and the board stays centered on students, not politics. As you read through these issues, you’ll see a common theme: steady leadership, responsible planning, and a commitment to keeping Bradley County’s schools strong for every student and every family.

Bradley County is growing, and our school system has to stay ahead of it. That means planning for enrollment increases, facility needs, transportation, and staffing before they become problems. I want us to be proactive, not reactive, using clear long-range plans that the public can understand, with realistic timelines and responsible spending. Growth can be a good thing, but only if we manage it in a way that protects classroom quality and keeps our schools safe, stable, and strong.

Great schools start with great teachers, and we need to do everything we can to keep good educators in Bradley County. Supporting teachers isn’t just about appreciation, it’s about practical help: consistent expectations, strong leadership, the right resources, and a work environment that allows them to teach. I want teachers to feel heard and respected, and I want decisions to be made with real input from the people doing the work every day. When teachers are supported, students thrive.

Parents deserve a school system that communicates clearly, listens honestly, and treats concerns with respect. I believe trust is built through transparency, consistency, and follow-through. As a board member, I will stay accessible to families and work to make sure parents understand what’s happening, why decisions are being made, and how those decisions affect students. This should never feel like an “us versus them” relationship—when schools and families work together, kids win.
-
Strong schools require strong partnerships, and the school board must work well with the Mayor and County Commission to plan wisely and steward taxpayer dollars responsibly. I want a productive relationship built on honest communication, shared goals, and clear planning, especially when it comes to budgets, facilities, and the realities of growth. We can be fiscally responsible while still meeting the needs of students and staff, and that takes teamwork, preparation, and a steady approach.

Bradley County has a lot to be proud of, and I want to build on the good things already happening in our schools. At the same time, we should be willing to address challenges with a clear-eyed, solutions-first mindset. Success isn’t just a slogan, it’s safe schools, strong academics, teachers who feel supported, and students who are prepared for life after graduation. My goal is steady progress: protect what’s working, improve what isn’t, and keep the focus where it belongs, on students.
